I’ve lost count of the number of dance bags I’ve had over the years. There never seems to be just the ONE perfect bag one for my needs. Also, my needs change depending on the type of dancing or event or travel I’m doing. This means that I switch bags fairly often, and that usually results in forgetting to transfer some important item from one bag to another.
But I’ve finally solved the problem, and I’m sharing it here because I think everyone should make themselves The Perfect Dance Bag. It’s insanely easy to do!
My trick is to have a small bag – a pouch, really – with dance essentials. I pop this pouch into whatever larger bag I need for the occasion. The larger bag changes depending on the number of shoes and other items I need with me – but the pouch is always the same. It’s reliable! I never worry about forgetting anything important anymore.
I’ve included photos of how my perfect dance bag looks – my hand is included for scale – and here’s what I keep inside:
Zippered bag – a cosmetics or toiletries bag does the job
- Deodorant (travel size)
- Plastic baggie containing bandaids, tampons, and sanitary napkins
- Collapsible fan
- Stinky-foot/shoe spray
- Custom, filtered earplugs (in their own little pouch)
- Suede-sole brush
- Tide pen
- Toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss (all travel size)
- Shoe goo (small tube)
- Anti-chafing lotion
- A bit of change and cash
What would you need in YOUR perfect dance bag? Dollar stores are awesome resources for nearly everything you’ll need. For everything else, there’s Shopper’s Drug Mart!
